Giacomo C- La Fiammina

This is a comic book by Dufaux and Griffo. It concerns La Fiammina who is an actress who challenges members of the Venetian royalty who fall in love with her to duels which she wins by kiling her opponent. This causes concern to the authorites and Giacomo is sent for to sort this matter out.

I found the story a change to the usual female hack and slash heroine who live in the world of comic books.

It is a beautifully drawn story set in slightly subdued lighting reflecting the twilight world where the main action takes place.

The swordplay is well drawn although at times over too quickly.

The story is in French and my schoolboy level French just about kept up although I struggled with some of the final explanations.

The comic book is widely avaiable from French speaking sites. I got mine from Amazon.Fr

I would be interested to know of any other comic books with swordsowmen at the core. I have a distant and hazy memories of two women duelling for the attention of Superman

Intriguing.

As to the duels being over too quickly in a comic-book style. The perceived target audience has a very short attention span. Reversals, which I crave, are hard to bring off in a wide-open space. Back and forth reversals even harder without looking "author-forced."

You are correct, Leyton; there is an issue of LOIS LANE in which Lois and Lana Lang are shown in duelists' uniforms and crossing swords. I don't recall the issue, but you could probably find the issue number in the Grand Comics Database by searching covers.
